ABCD Consultant Development Programme 2017SummaryDescription
The ABCD Consultant Development Programme
ABCD Consultant Development Programmes is designed to reinvigorate the learning of the non-clinical aspects of being a consultant. This replaces the YDEF led King's Fund Management Course. It will be held for a week from the 27th November to 1st December 2017 at the Park Regis Birmingham Hotel.
This is the only D&E specific leadership and management course. It has been organised by the ABCD to support the competencies from the Medical Consultant Leadership Framework. Our leadership course is accredited by the Institute of Learning and Management. This means that you will be able to complete a formal vocationally-related qualification (VRQ) by undertaking an assessed workplace project (eg. service improvement / educational initiative) after you complete the course. Geared to doctors in their final year of training and newly appointed consultants, this stimulating and experiential programme will prepare you well for the next transition in your career.
Places are limited to ensure a dynamic and interactive group.
Only ABCD members can be allocated places. Membership fees for ABCD are £75 per year and membership gives you discounted registration for ABCD scientific sessions. Please note: ABCD membership numbers cannot be given instantly and may take a few weeks. If the course is oversubscribed we will give priority to those in their final year of training and those newly appointed consultants. To apply for ABCD membership please click HERE
The cost per head is over £1500. We are able to offer it to ABCD members for £325 including accommodation and meals (you will need to fund your own travel expenses). Payment is by credit or debit card via Paypal or you can pay by cheque or bank transfer.
A place will only be confirmed once your ABCD membership has been verified. Priority will be given to trainees in their final year of training that submit complete applications and send payment.
Please note that you are expected to attend all sessions on each day of the programme and we cannot accept requests to attend part of the course only.
The course has been developed for ABCD by Prof. Dev Singh, Consultant Physician Diabetes & Endocrinology & Medical Director of The Academic Institute of Medicine, and Mr Keith Whitfield of Ultimate Performance, and ILM training centre.
