Grants

The Diabetes Care Trust (ABCD) Ltd offers grants to support our charitable objectives which are directed at achieving a better understanding of diabetes by the people who have diabetes, by the professionals who look after them and by the public at large. 

As well as our role in education we also aim to support research projects that contribute directly to the care and wellbeing of people with diabetes.

The DCT’s charitable objectives are: 

  • To advance and encourage the education of medical and other health care professionals involved in the care of those with diabetes. 
  • To improve the understanding of people with diabetes about their own condition. 
  • To advance the knowledge of the public in all matters relating to diabetes and diabetes care. 
  • To support clinical research aimed at making direct improvements in the care and wellbeing of people with diabetes. 
  • To improve the audit and scrutiny of treatments and technology for people with diabetes.

ABCD Diabetes Dragons' Den Funding Scheme

The Association for British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) is pleased to launch a new funding scheme - the Diabetes Dragons' Den. This competition aims to provide a route for supporting clinically relevant innovative projects in the area of diabetes care.  This ‘Dragons' Den’ route will appeal to the strengths of NHS clinicians with worthy clinical projects that would be important to support. Research Grants

Now in its fourth year, we are proud to re-advertise the clinical grant funding scheme from The Diabetes Care Trust and The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists for high quality clinically based studies costing up to £50,000 relating to the management and care of people with diabetes. Applicants should be in the early stages of their career.

ABCD Travel Grant Scheme Application

As of 1st August 2023 this scheme has been suspended whilst it is under review. No applications will be accepted at the current time. ABCD will consider claims from members who are Specialist Registrars to assist with travel expenses when presenting their work at an international meeting. In the first instance you would need to submit a proposal via the Travel Grant Scheme Application Form detailing the reasons you would like to claim, the destination meeting and the sum to be claimed.
