Alison is Consultant Diabetologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
I am producing a series of ABCD position statements which focus on controversial areas in the management of type 2 diabetes. This has included an ABCD letter to the BMJ which challenged the purported link between pioglitazone use and bladder cancer risk as well as a recent position statement on the risk of diabetic ketoacidosis associated with the use of SGLT-2 inhibitors. My interests include patient safety and governance and I led the Leicester submission to the National Diabetes Mortality and Morbidity Project which was presented at Diabetes UK in 2016. I also have an interest in insulin therapy, type 1 diabetes and the management of diabetes in pregnancy.
