The Young Diabetologist and Endocrinologist (YDEF) Technology course is back!

This course is one of the best technology courses going, is highly valued by attendees and allows for an immersive three-day crash course in everything diabetes and technology including hands-on experience with insulin pumps and sensors and sessions by the country’s leading experts in type 1 diabetes and technology.

This course is designed to be residential, and attendees are expected to stay on site unless agreed prior. This course, including accommodation, is free to attend, but a £100 deposit is required to ensure attendance which is refunded on full participation of the course (i.e. attending all three days).

⚠️ Your registration will not be confirmed immediately. After course registration closes, you will be emailed to inform you of the result of your application. If successful, a £100 deposit is required to confirm your registration.  

You must be a member of ABCD to attend - if you are not already a member you can join online. 

The course will cover:

  • Insulin pumps
  • Interpreting CGM
  • Hands-on experience with pumps and CGM
  • Workshops covering pregnancy, exercise and closed-loop

This course is always popular and often oversubscribed.  Places are limited, sponsors are supporting the event for the benefit of trainees, and many of your trainee colleagues will have been unable to secure a place on the course. Although YDEF courses are free to attend, the cost of providing this course to you is over £700. There are no places available for people who have attended the course previously. We will check your details against our list of past attendees and if you apply to re-attend, this will be dealt with as a probity issue. If you do not attend the course following successful registration, without giving us a reason or due notice, your deposit will not be returned and you will be blacklisted from any future YDEF events.

Prior to attendance at the course, please ensure you have completed the Glooko Academy Modules on "Continuous Glucose Monitoring" and "Hybrid Closed Loop". The Glooko modules are an excellent resource, and completing them will ensure you have a base knowledge so that you can get the most out of the course. Certificates showing completion are required for registration.

Trainees in ST7 will be prioritised, followed by ST6, ST5, ST4 and then those not in training programmes. After signing-up, your registration will not be confirmed immediately. We will email you after registration closes to inform you whether your sign-up was successful or not. At this point, if successful, we will ask for a £100 deposit to confirm your registration.  You must be a member of ABCD to attend - if you are not already a member you can join online.

  • YDEF Diabetes Technology Course delivered by DTN-UK, July 2025 Information

    Please note that you are expected to attend all sessions on each day of the programme and we cannot accept requests to attend part of the course only. All attendees must have a current valid membership of ABCD.

    Cost

    Due to the generosity of our sponsors we are able to provide this course free of charge to all delegates,  to include accommodation for 2 nights, lunch and dinner on day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 2 and breakfast & lunch on day 3. Drinks are not included. You will need to pay for your own travel expenses and room extras at the hotel.

    Deposit

    In order to confirm your place on the course you will need to pay a deposit of £100 when you register. This deposit will be refunded after the course provided that you have attended all sessions and used accommodation and meals that have been reserved for you. 

    Dinner and accommodation

    These will be provided on the nights of 22nd & 23rd July 2025. If you live locally and do not need accommodation please let us know as soon as possible.  Please note that the dinner each night is an important part of the course, with the opportunity to network and chat to speakers, and we recommend that you should attend as part of the programme even if you are not staying at the hotel.

    Your room will be ready for check in from 15.00 on 22nd July 2025. Check out time is 11.00 on 24th July 2025 – an additional charge may be incurred if you do not check out before this time. Please note that the concierge will be able to store your luggage once you have checked out of your room.

    Lunch and dinner will be provided on day 1, breakfast, lunch and dinner on day 2 and breakfast and lunch on day 3. If you have specified a dietary requirement then this will be catered for. Please note that drinks with meals (apart from water) are at your own expense.

    Cancellation

    Should you need to cancel your place at this meeting, please note that your deposit can only be refunded if we are able to fill your place with another delegate, otherwise no refunds can be given. All refunds are subject to a £10 administration fee.

  • Event Terms and Conditions

    1. Delegate places at the conference are limited and offered on a first-come, first served basis. Places cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received.
    2. Cancellation charges may apply (100% cancellation fee if cancelled within four weeks of the event)
    3. Refunds may be available up to 28 days prior to the event taking place - please check the details for each event.  All refunds are subject to a £10.00 administration fee
    4. ABCD / ABCD Diabetes Technology Network reserves the right to alter the programme without prior notice
    5. In the event that a conference is cancelled or cannot take place for any reason outside the control of ABCD, the registration fees will be refunded in full. The total liability of  ABCD shall be limited to that refund only and it shall not be liable for any other loss, cost or expense, howsoever arising.
    6. Delegates are advised to take out appropriate travel insurance cover.
    7. All delegates attending events must comply with relevant current government guidance at the time of the event. Delegates are asked to take all possible precautions against spreading infection through the wearing of masks and frequent hand washing. Delegates are asked to advise the event team if they test positive for COVID-19.
