Junior doctors are invited to apply for a position with the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS). This unremunerated post is designed to help refresh and update the existing guidelines that have been produced so far (all found at https://abcd.care/joint-british-diabetes-societies-jbds-inpatient-care-group), but also to help JBDS appreciate the needs of junior doctors.
Whilst there is no payment for the work done, the successful applicant will be a co-author on any guidelines, which to date have been downloaded over a million times across the world. There is thus the opportunity to make a difference to the increasing numbers of hospitalised inpatients with diabetes.
Ideally, prospective candidates should have the MRCP(UK), and have an interest in acute and general medicine. An interest in inpatient diabetes care is desirable.
