An excellent opportunity has arisen for Trainees (SpRs, MTI, CT trainees) to apply for a position with the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS). These unremunerated positions on the JBDS committee are designed to help refresh and update the existing guidelines that have been produced so far (all found at https://abcd.care/joint-british-diabetes-societies-jbds-inpatient-care-…).
The successful applicants will be expected to work alongside, and under the supervision, of the authors of the original guidelines to systematically examine the literature and revise the guidelines where appropriate.
Whilst there is no payment for the work done, the successful applicants will be co-authors on the guidelines, which to date have been downloaded over a million times across the world. There is thus the opportunity to make a difference to the increasing numbers of hospitalised inpatients with diabetes.
It is envisioned that, depending on the number of applications received, one or two candidates will work on each guideline. While JBDS meets once a year to fave a facade to face meeting, the proposed work is likely to be done on line.
Ideally, prospective candidates should have the MRCP(UK), and have an interest in acute and general medicine. An interest in inpatient diabetes care is desirable.
For more information, or to submit your CV and a cover letter explaining why you’d like to be considered for these positions to please contact ketan.dhatariya@nnuh.nhs.uk. Closing date for applications is the 18th of October 2019
