Dr Harshal Deshmukh is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Academic Diabetes and Endocrinology at the University of Hull. He has trained in Medicine in India and has a Master's in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA and a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology from the University of Dundee, Scotland.
He has done his clinical training in Scotland and North East Deanery as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and the Yorkshire and Humber Deanery as an NIHR Clinical Lecturer. During his PhD and post-doctoral fellowship, he has looked at the genetic epidemiology aspects of diabetes and complications of diabetes, and pharmacogenetics in diabetes.
His research interests include the genetic determinants of Polycystic Ovary syndrome, the effect of novel technologies in diabetes monitoring and treatment and ethnic disparities in diabetes management.
