Francesca Annan, BSc (Hons), MSc, RD, SP qualified as a dietitian in Cardiff, UK in 1990 and also has an MSc in Sport & Exercise Nutrition (2013) and was awarded a Fellowship of the British Dietetic Association in 2018. She is a co-lead of the children and young people's diabetes service at University College London Hospitals and is an NHSE London region clinical lead for children's diabetes. In addition to working alongside MDT colleagues in diabetes clinics, she runs a specialist tertiary referral exercise and diabetes management clinic for children and adolescents.
She is a former member of the ISPAD advisory board and Science School for health care professionals faculty and is the lead author of the 2022 ISPAD consensus guidelines on nutritional management of diabetes and a contributor the currrent (5th ) edition of Clinical Paediatric Dietetics textbook. Current member of the JDRF Scientific Advisory Committee and was a member of the JDRF Peak Expert panel which produced consensus guidelines for managing exercise and Type 1 Diabetes (Riddell et al 2017).
