In the third of the 2023 ABCD webinar series, please join Professor Paul Cockwell to discuss management of chronic kidney disease in patients with type 2 diabetes.

The development of chronic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes has a profound impact on outcomes, with an incremental increase in cardiovascular disease and other clinical events and overall mortality risk. As CKD may affect up to 50% of individuals with type 2 diabetes, clinicians should have a detailed understanding of the identification, monitoring, management, and specialist referral triggers. New therapies and new approaches to risk stratification have led to a paradigm shift this area, however most patients with diabetes and CKD are not being managed to the evidence, with major implications for their long-term outcome.

This seminar will address the following areas: identification and monitoring of CKD; primary prevention including blood pressure management; optimisation of RAS inhibition; use of SGLT2 inhibitors; mineralocorticoid blockade; other therapeutic interventions with an evidence base; referral thresholds to nephrology; patient information.

Q& A will follow this presentation.

RCP Accreditation has been sought for this webinar. Certificates of attendance will be issued to those who attend the live webinar.
