Integrating Motivational Interviewing into Diabetes Consultation Workshop

As a part of YDEF philosophy to impart high quality skills and training to all diabetes registrars and future consultants, we have partnered with Napp Pharmaceuticals to organise the Third Annual Workshop on Integrating Motivational Interviewing into Diabetes Consultation.
This course will allow trainees to excel in their counselling skills and empower patients to change their behaviours to gain better control and self-management of their diabetes. It is open to all diabetes StR and post CCT fellows/new consultants (up to 2 yrs). All ABCD members are eligible to participate in this workshop.
This one day practical skills workshop will begin at 10am on 29th October 2018 at Hilton Metropole Hotel, near NEC Birmingham. This venue is easily accessible by car and train via Birmingham international airport train station. The programme will finish at 17.30 and will be followed by dinner to continue discussion.
The workshop will be delivered by Professor Stephen Rollnick, who is honorary Distinguished Professor at Cochrane School of Primary Care & Public Health, Cardiff University, a clinical psychologist with a research focus on good practice in efforts to promote change and behaviour change among patients. Professor Rollnick is a co-founder of motivational interviewing and co-author of Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change (Miller and Rollnick, 1991; 2001 & 2012), Health Behaviour Change: A Guide for Practitioners (Rollnick, Mason & Butler, 1999) and Motivational Interviewing in Health Care (Rollnick, Miller & Butler, 2008).
