ABCD Inspire Podcast Series

Welcome to the ABCD Inspire Podcast Series

Throughout this series, we will hear from a number of the UK's leading diabetes specialists, who will share their journeys into and through diabetes both clinically and academically.

The aim of these podcasts is to:

  • to inspire and empower junior clinicians to start their careers in the field of diabetes
  • to inspire more health care professionals to undertake research in the field of diabetes
  • to empower individuals who are underrepresented in the field of academic diabetes to take part in research
  • to introduce listeners to a wide range of topics in the field of academic diabetes and clinical diabetes
  • to provide insight into the possible career pathways of a clinical academic/full time clinical diabetologist
  • to create thought-provoking discussions.

This series is hosted by Dr Petra Hanson who is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Warwick Medical School, and clinically she works at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. She completed her PhD on the subject of type 2 Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism in 2021 and in 2022 became an ABCD Academic Committee and Research Grant Committee member.
