NHS England has recently published the document “Language Matters – diabetes Language”. I first became aware of this simple but fascinating area pioneered in the USA and Australia with their inspirational work, when I attended a session on this topic during the ADA meeting in San Diego in June 2017. Thanks to Dr Partha Kar at the NHS, for his courage and efforts which led to the initiation and conclusion of this fascinating document. It does not matter, how accomplished you may think you are in communicating with people with diabetes, I would strongly recommend that you read it once and again and again. You will not be disappointed! ABCD is lucky and proud to be involved in this work.
