Due to the pressure on hospital teams during the COVID pandemic, we have postponed the 2021 competition but are launching a revamped award for 2022 which has been amended to take into account the current COVID situation. We are inviting colleagues to submit entries which will be for:
‘The Rowan Hillson Inpatient Safety Award – The best interventions: Redesigning, rebuilding and maintaining safe inpatient diabetes care during COVID’
This JBDS – IP project is being led by Dr Umesh Dashora and Erwin Castro. The submissions will be judged against predetermined criteria, by an independent panel chaired by Rowan Hillson, and the winner will be presented with the prestigious annual Rowan Hillson Inpatient Safety Award at the ABCD Spring meeting 2022. The outcome of this initiative will be published on the ABCD, Diabetes UK and DISN UK Group websites to share excellent practice.
Professor Ketan Dhatariya, Chair of JBDS, would encourage submissions when the competition opens in September. Competitive applications are likely to be those that show hard evidence of benefit, that are translatable to other Trusts, are costed, are relatively simple and sustainable, and which have been commissioned or supported by an Acute Trust. This competition is open to all UK health care professionals. The attached document outlines the application, and the closing date is 28.02.22
