However, the adoption of these systems can be complex and requires a collaborative effort from healthcare professionals, people with type 1 diabetes, and caregivers.
This best practice guide covering commercially available hybrid closed-loop systems in type 1 diabetes is a timely and important resource for healthcare professionals given the anticipated increase in access and availability of funding for these systems in the UK, including the upcoming NICE multiple-technology appraisal in England. It provides practical guidance on the key elements of hybrid closed-loop system implementation, including user and system selection, training, and ongoing management. By following the recommendations outlined in this guide, healthcare professionals can help ensure that people with type 1 diabetes receive the maximum benefit from hybrid closed-loop systems while minimising the risk of complications.
