We are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Aaisha Saqib as ABCD Honorary Meetings Secretary.
Dr Saqib is a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London. She has been an ABCD committee member since June 2024, has previously served as the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Chief Registrar (2019–2020) and also held a national committee role with the Young Diabetologists and Endocrinologists’ Forum (YDEF).
Dr Saqib co-developed the ABCD Diabetes Update course and has a broad portfolio in quality improvement in healthcare. She is currently the Acute and General Medicine Directorate Lead for Quality Improvement at GSTT. She has led trust-wide initiatives to improve staff wellbeing, patient care, and safety, with work published in peer-reviewed journals. In recognition of her leadership, she was awarded the RCP Lily Leadership Award in 2021. Her clinical interests include early onset type 2 diabetes, diabetes complications and perioperative diabetes care.
On her appointment, Dr Saqib said: "I am very much looking forward to serving as ABCD Honorary Meetings Secretary and helping to co-design and organise meetings that meet the needs of the ABCD membership...I am particularly passionate about creating opportunities to share education, leadership experience, and best practice with colleagues from across the country."
