Dr Punith Kempegowda is an NIHR Advanced Fellow, Clinical Associate Professor, and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy at the University of Birmingham. He also serves as an Honorary Consultant in Reproductive Endocrinology and Acute Diabetes at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. His academic work focuses on dissemination, education, and implementation science, with a strong emphasis on translating evidence into meaningful clinical practice.

He founded and leads several impactful initiatives. SIMBA delivers structured, simulation-based learning to enhance clinical decision-making. CoMICs produces concise, evidence-informed educational videos across a range of medical topics. DEKODE is a multicentre, cloud-based quality improvement programme designed to strengthen care for diabetes-related emergencies. PCOS SEVa is a national collaborative programme dedicated to understanding and improving models of care for women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Through these initiatives, he combines clinical expertise with educational innovation to advance standards of care and professional development.
