Clinical Director for Renal Medicine, Transplant Surgery & Urology for Oxford University Hospitals. National Surgical Lead for Clinical Governance with NHS Blood & Transplant. Areas of expertise are in transplantation of Kidney & pancreas, Laparoscopic Surgery including living donor surgery & Dialysis Access. Areas of research interest is in the field of organ preservation & reconditioning and the use of the marginal organs. My expertise in minimally invasive surgery is key to my interest in robotic surgery and I am keen to see this being offered to patients particularly those who are obese.
After completing my surgical residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India, I trained in Liverpool & Oxford and obtained my Specialist Registration in 2005. Since then I have been associated with the Oxford Transplant Centre and have been integral in its transformation in to a major transplant centre in Europe.
I am passionate about transplantation and my association with the transplant service in Oxford has been since 2003, as it has evolved into a leading centre in Europe & the world, delivering kidney, pancreas, Multivisceral including intestinal, islet and now uterine transplantation. I have been at the forefront of innovations in the program including the use of the marginal deceased donor, paediatric organs and minimally invasive surgery.
I have close to 100 publications in various formats in peer reviewed journals. I am a recognized expert in the field of transplantation and am invited as a speaker at National & International forums.
