Patrick is Director for Diabetes Solent NHS Trust.
Patrick's initial research work was in the area of diabetes related complications, but more recently he has been working in the earlier part of the pathway, in the area of diabetes prevention. As a consequence, he is currently working on a series of projects investigating the most efficient screening modalities to diagnose diabetes and non-diabetic hyperglycaemia in the community. He is currently working for a community diabetes provider and is the clinical lead for the service. He has a keen interest in models of diabetes care and is one of the diabetes clinical leads for the sustainable transformation plan (STP) in Wessex. Patrick remains committed to ongoing work on provision of best care for people with type 1 diabetes, and works within ABCD and with other outside agencies on work in the area which is now becoming a national workstream.
