EXTOD 2021 Conference: Exercise and Nutrition in Type 1 Diabetes

We are delighted to invite you once again to the annual Exercise for Type 1 Diabetes (EXTOD) conference. We will continue the online format from last year, holding them on consecutive Wednesday evenings through October, November, and December 2021. Our programme this year caters for people attending for the first time and for people who have previously attended with three new topics and additional podcasts and videos.
The EXTOD 2021 Conference is fully subscribed, but we are delighted to be able to offer on demand access. Delegates registered for on demand access will receive:
- Access to watch again any past webinars
- Live access to any future webinars
On Demand Delegates will not have access to workshops, however a summary recording will be made available at the end of the conference. Please see the programme for full details.
We aim to have your access to past webinars live within 48 hours of your registration.
So, what is new this year?
This year we will cover three new topic areas:
- How to motivate patients with type 1 diabetes to increase their exercise levels.
- What advice to give to patients with type 1 diabetes who are on low carbohydrate diets and/or are considering supplements and exercising.
- What advice to give on exercise and controlling glucose for pregnant women with diabetes (type 1, type 2 and gestational diabetes).
Podcasts of patients with type 1 diabetes talking about how they manage their glucose around different exercise and short videos exploring different areas, such as psychology of exercise, in more detail will also be available for the duration of the conference to watch in your own time.
What about if I am attending for the first time?
To cater for people attending for the first time. We will make available videos on the physiology of exercise and strategies to control glucose around exercise and hold a preconference webinar on Wednesday 6th October 2021 to answer any questions on these subjects. The couch to marathon workshop will then take you through the basic principles of advising patients on how to exercise safely. The other webinars and workshops will build on this knowledge.
