Mrs. Geraldine Gallen
Senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse
Geraldine Gallen Type 1 Service Lead, Nurse Consultant- Diabetes at Kings College Hospital, London.
Geraldine Gallen is a Nurse Consultant in diabetes, currently working at Kings College Hospital, London. She has been in this position for over seventeen years and is the lead for the Type 1 diabetes service. Geraldine’s main clinical interest is in the management and education of all patients with Type 1 diabetes including those patients experiencing problematic hypoglycaemia, and along with the team at Kings offers a full range of treatments including structured education, DAFNE, diabetes technology including hybrid closed loop technology, with over 1000 patients currently using this technology within the service. Geraldine has also had training in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and is interested in developing these skills further and supporting patients in their holistic management with their diabetes. Geraldine is excited by the developments of technology within type 1 diabetes management and can often be found talking to patients and healthcare professionals nationally and internationally educating how technology can be adapted into the patient pathway. -
Dr. Sufyan Hussain
Consultant
Dr Sufyan Hussain is a Medical Research Council-funded clinician scientist working as a Diabetes Physician at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and Adjunct Reader in Diabetes at King’s College London. His research advances diabetes technologies and novel therapies, including hybrid closed-loop systems and stem cell therapy for type 1 diabetes. A Cambridge graduate with a PhD from Imperial College London, he trained in London and held a visiting scholarship at Harvard. He was the lead clinical expert for the NICE appraisal of hybrid closed-loop systems and serves as vice-chair of the ABCD Diabetes Technology Network and board member of IDF Europe and EUDF, improving outcomes through research, policy and lived experience. -
Dr. Alistair Lumb
Dr Lumb is a Consultant in Diabetes at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He is Chair of the Diabetes Technology Network-UK (DTN-UK) and a member of the ExTOD (Exercise in Type One Diabetes) Steering Committee. His clinical interests also include inpatient diabetes and transplantation. -
Dr. Garry Tan

Garry is a consultant in diabetes in Oxford and works as the Clinical Lead for the National Diabetes Audit.
