ABCD DTN-UK Educators Day London 2025

Due to continued demand for this event and to support educators in the rollout and optimisation of hybrid closed loop technology, we are pleased to announce that we will once again be holding two DTN Diabetes Educator events in 2025:

Each meeting can only accommodate 100 delegates and is expected to be extremely popular, early registration is recommended. Please note this is a face-to-face meeting only and there is no online option.

What is it?

This meeting represents a unique opportunity for healthcare professionals working within diabetes to keep up to date with the latest technology. Representation from companies providing the technology for HCL systems will be present all day for discussion and support. Keynote presentations by experts in their field will include addressing behaviour, consultation skills, and management of HCL systems with frailty.

Our workshops will include skin/site management, pregnancy and T1DE.

This meeting will support educators to come together and share ideas, best practices and to network with peers who have an interest in diabetes technology or looking to enhance their knowledge. We welcome submissions of best practice from centres to share with the meeting. With new challenges emerging with the increased use of HCL therapy we hope to support each other with problem solving.

Who can attend? 

This event is for all healthcare professionals working within diabetes.

What does it cost?

We are delighted to be able to offer this meeting free of charge to all delegates. A £50 deposit will be taken to secure your place and will be refunded post event to all delegates who attend for the full duration.

You must be a member of the Diabetes Technology Network (DTN-UK) in order to register, this is also free of charge. If you are not already a member of DTN-UK you may join online.

  • Mrs. Geraldine Gallen

    Senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse

    Geraldine Gallen Type 1 Service Lead, Senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse Kings College Hospital, London Geraldine Gallen is a Senior Diabetes Specialist Nurse, currently working at Kings College Hospital, London. She has been in this position for over ten years and is the lead for the Type 1 diabetes service. Geraldine’s main clinical interest is in the management and education of all patients with Type 1 diabetes including those patients experiencing problematic hypoglycaemia, and along with the team at Kings offers a full range of treatments including structured education, DAFNE and DAFNE for pumpers, technology including insulin pump therapy, sensor augmented pump therapy, automated closed loop systems, continuous glucose monitoring and flash glucose monitoring. She and her team have over 800 patients on insulin pumps and over 300 patients funded on full time continuous glucose monitoring. Geraldine has also had training in Cognitive Behavioural therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) and is interested in developing these skills further and supporting patients in their holistic management with their diabetes. Geraldine is excited by the developments of technology within type 1 diabetes management and can often be found talking to patients and healthcare professionals nationally and internationally educating how technology can be adapted into the patient pathway.

    Diabetes Specialist Dietician

    Amy Jolley, MSc, BSc, RD is Lead Diabetes Specialist Dietitian for the young adult and transition services at Salford Care Organisation. Amy also leads on the delivery of technology services by providing continued education for staff and providing specialist insulin pump/CGM clinics for patients as part of a MDT. Amy has weekly clinics with people using AID systems and those preparing to commence these systems. Amy has been in her role for 13 years and explored many areas of diabetes. She’s a DAFNE educator for MDI and pumps, completed MSc modules in insulin pump therapy, completed the NMP course level 7, and is currently working closely with clinical psychology in developing patient workshop for those transitioning to HCL systems. This year Amy has arranged multiple in-person events for PWD to meet to encourage peer support set up and growth. Amy is enthusiastic to contribute to the education of diabetes technology on a national level.

    Cost

    We are delighted to be able to offer this meeting free of charge to all delegates. A £50 deposit will be taken to secure your place and will be refunded post event to all delegates who attend for the full duration.  The deposit payment will be required at the time of booking via card payment.

    You will need to pay for your own travel expenses, accommodation, breakfast, dinner and any room extras at your hotel.

    There will be four workshops running at this event; at the point of registering, you will be asked to select your two preferred options.  Please note workshops will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and you will be notified in advance of your allocation.

    Please do not leave bags or equipment unattended and please wear your badge at all times. ABCD cannot be held responsible for personal belongings or effects.

    Cancellation

    Should you need to cancel your place at this meeting, please note that fees paid can only be refunded if we are able to fill your place, otherwise no refunds can be given. All refunds are subject to a £10 administration fee.

  • Event Terms and Conditions

    1. Delegate places at the conference are limited and offered on a first-come, first served basis. Places cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received.
    2. Cancellation charges may apply (100% cancellation fee if cancelled within four weeks of the event)
    3. Refunds may be available up to 28 days prior to the event taking place - please check the details for each event.  All refunds are subject to a £10.00 administration fee
    4. ABCD / ABCD Diabetes Technology Network reserves the right to alter the programme without prior notice
    5. In the event that a conference is cancelled or cannot take place for any reason outside the control of ABCD, the registration fees will be refunded in full. The total liability of  ABCD shall be limited to that refund only and it shall not be liable for any other loss, cost or expense, howsoever arising.
    6. Delegates are advised to take out appropriate travel insurance cover.
    7. All delegates attending events must comply with relevant current government guidance at the time of the event. Delegates are asked to take all possible precautions against spreading infection through the wearing of masks and frequent hand washing. Delegates are asked to advise the event team if they test positive for COVID-19.
