Dr Clare Hambling was appointed National Clinical Director for Diabetes and Obesity for NHS England in February 2024. She is a practising GP in Norfolk, where she has held various leadership roles in local CCGs and the ICB over many years. She continues as the Specialty Advisor for Diabetes & Obesity for Norfolk and Waveney ICS and, until taking up her national role, was co-clinical lead for Norfolk and Waveney's award winning Population Health Management programme, Protect-NoW. She has been Chair of the Primary Care Diabetes Society since 2018, completing her second term in Office later this year. She has been involved in the National Diabetes Audit for a number of years, as clinical lead for the primary care core and a member of the advisory group for the National Pregnancy in Diabetes Audit, before wider involvement as NCD.
