Dr. Soon Song

Dr Song is a consultant physician in general medicine and diabetes at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. A graduate of Edinburgh University, he obtained his MD with distinction and was awarded the Endocrine Society prize for best paper published in Journal Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2000. With clinical and research interests in young type 2 diabetes, he is a grant reviewer for NIHR and led the NHS T2Day Program to improve care of young adults with type 2 diabetes in South Yorkshire. He also led the National Diabetes Audit (NDA) Quality Improvement Collaborative to improve pre-pregnancy care in women with diabetes in Sheffield. He is the Diabetes UK Clinical Champion for Northern and Yorkshire region and expert member of NICE Diabetes Guideline Committee, NICE Technology Appraisal Committee and NDA Advisory Group for Young Type 2 Diabetes. He is a Council Member of Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and contributes to postgraduate education as Medical Secretary of Specialty Certificate Examination Board for Diabetes & Endocrinology, MRCP(UK) PACES examiner and RCP College Tutor.
