Dr. Petra Hanson

Dr Hanson is an NIHR Clinical Lecturer in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Warwick Medical School. She works clinically at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. She has completed her PhD on a subject of type 2 Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism in 2021.
Her main research interests are in metabolic medicine, type 2 diabetes, obesity, digital health tools, mindfulness and its clinical application for both patients and health care staff. Dr Hanson currently runs two pilot studies assessing the clinical application of mindfulness among people with type 2 diabetes and heart failure. She leads on an innovation digital health project called Gro Health W8Buddy at obesity service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire. In 2021 she completed a Topol Digital Fellowship, working on application of digital tools in obesity services. In 2022 she was selected for NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme cohort 6.

The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists is the national organisation of Consultant Physicians in Britain who specialise in Diabetes Mellitus. Most are also Acute General Physicians, and many are also Specialists in Endocrinology and Lipid Metabolism.
