We are delighted to let members know that the National Confidential Enquiry on Perioperative Deaths (NCEPOD) has agreed that our joint proposal on the peri-operative management of the patient with diabetes will be a topic for this year’s audit. We believe this to be a major step forward as it will require surgeons, anaesthetists and diabetes specialists to work together to examine and address the issues and to introduce good practice such as the JBDS perioperative guidelines. We hope that you are encouraged by this development and will involve your teams in the enquiry. Further details on participation will be sent by NCEPOD in due course
