Launch of new name: ABCD Diabetes Technology Network UK (DTN-UK)

As clinicians we face a number of hurdles in accessing the right technology to best support people living with diabetes. With this in mind the IPN-UK committee has opted to relaunch under a new name which better describes our remit. Ultimately our role is to support access to all forms of diabetes technology. As such we have decided to rename; at Diabetes UK we will officially launch as the Diabetes Technology Network UK (DTN-UK). To echo Rob Gregory’s previous email, a key priority for the DTN-UK and ABCD Type 1 clinical collaborative in 2018 will be tackling the inequitable access to CGM across the country.

Session at Diabetes UK Professional Conference

The official launch of DTN-UK is on Wednesday the 14th of March, 5-6.30 pm at the ABCD Type 1 clinical collaborative session at DUK. Here we will present the DTN-UK Best Practice Guides for both insulin pumps (clinical and service level) and inpatients on insulin pumps. Details of the upcoming NHS digital Type 1 diabetes service level audit and the future direction of education in diabetes will be discussed. We hope to see you there!

Annual DTN-UK meeting, Glasgow Wednesday 23rd May 2018
This is our main meeting for 100 multidisciplinary delegates. It will include an interactive download interpretation session, a technology update and sessions on hypoglycaemia, exercise, pumps and CGM in pregnancy. Watch this space…registration will open soon!

FreeStyle Libre Update

I imagine many of you are involved in ongoing discussions regarding funding agreements for the FreeStyle Libre® flash glucose monitoring system. ABCD have developed an audit tool which both adult and paediatric services are welcome to complete for both those who self-fund and those fortunate enough to receive NHS funding.
