Dates for your diary

The next annual IPN-UK meeting will be held in Glasgow on the 23rd of May. The day will include an interactive download interpretation session, a technology update and sessions on hypoglycaemia, exercise, pumps and CGM in pregnancy. Hopefully we will see you there!

We are also busy planning the 2018 IPN-UK team days which will be held in Manchester, Yorkshire and Coventry…more information to follow.

If you have any colleagues who might be interested in these events they can register as a member of the IPN-UK for free HERE

Service level audit

The IPN-UK committee are working with the National Diabetes Audit team at NHS Digital to develop a Type 1 diabetes national audit tool which will benchmark services and ultimately help drive improvements in care. This audit will be in addition to the annual individual level insulin pump audit and will be launched in 2018.

IPN-UK Best Practice Guides

Teams of UK consultants, specialist nurses and dietitians have been working collaboratively over the past few months to develop IPN-UK Best Practice Guides. These guides have been developed based on the experience of a group of health care professionals who collectively work with over 7000 patients on insulin pump therapy. We hope to launch these guides in 2018.…watch this space.

FreeStyle Libre

I imagine many of you have been involved in local discussions regarding funding agreements for the FreeStyle Libre® flash glucose monitoring system. You will be aware of the Regional Medicines Optimisation Committee (RMOC) recommendations for funding which can be found HERE

The RMOC position statement recommends the collections of audit data. ABCD have developed an audit tool which both adult and paediatric services are welcome to use. Further details can be found HERE.

Some areas have published their funding recommendations. The Northern (NHS) Treatment advisory Group have endorsed the RMOC position statement while Manchester have published the following, see HERE
