ABCD has made the decision to postpone annual DTN/ABCD and regional meetings for 2020 in the wake of Covid-19 virus.

Last updated: 17 March 2020

The country remains in the grip of Corona virus and it would appear that the global case load is increasing. The WHO has declared Europe at the epicentre of this pandemic. The directors of ABCD have been closely monitoring developments and we will continue to communicate about this to you.

The directors had a recent teleconference and a decision has been taken to postpone the Spring ABCD and DTN meetings in Liverpool to a later date in the year, hopefully in early September, depending upon the how the situation further develops and pending venue availability. Those registered will automatically be transferred to this meeting.

We have also decided to postpone the two planned Regional Meetings in Yorkshire on 12th May and in Birmingham on 3rd June 2020. Again, registrations will be transferred to the new dates and we will keep you informed.

These steps are regrettable, but essential to avoid posing risk to front line doctors who are likely to be needed more than ever, in the coming weeks.

We are in close discussions with our sponsors and the executive team are at present considering the potential to provide relevant online educational materials to fulfil CME requirements on line. If this is something you would value please do let our ABCD secretariat know.

It is clearly important that we continue to follow national and regional guidance to help mitigate the impact and spread of the current Corona virus.
