Kash Patel is a Wellcome Trust Career Development Fellow and Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Dr. Kash Patel focuses on furthering the understanding of the genetic basis of diabetes and applying these discoveries to improve patient care. His research in monogenic diabetes involves impactful studies spanning from gene discovery to clinical implementation. The genes Dr. Patel's team identified are now part of standard global testing protocols. Beyond gene discovery, he helped establish the utility of an innovative genetic testing approach that combines type 1 diabetes risk scoring and monogenic gene testing, now used in NHS clinics. He is the recipient of prestigious Young Investigator awards from Diabetes UK and EASD-SGGD for his work in monogenic diabetes.
